                                                                       Τext of Art Critics

Costas Gaïtis, drawing on the formidable reserves of a tradition founded upon tens of centuries of cultural gestation and the rhythms of cosmic harmony, introduces us to the rarified atmosphere of artistic evolution with an enchanting beckon, which reflects an exclusive personal quality and the directness of his own spiritual ethos.
The formal diversity of his aesthetic style and sensory class, result in refined, ingenious and innovative expressions of a clear inner cause.
These expressions are immediately connected to the fertility of the experience he garnered as an apprentice in the studios of Greek artists and scholars active since the 30's and the 40's, as much as to the teachings of the French avant-garde, absorbed during his twenty year tenure in Paris.
Τhe permanent search for the unadorned and absolutely necessary is evident in his work, embodied in the materiality of marble, metal and color. It rhymes with his worldview and his faith in the endogenous (inner) forces of artistic creation. It is rooted in the cleanliness of his design philosophy, the precision rendering, the catalytic role of light and his work discrete character.
Gaïtis has the fortune to hail from - and inadvertently carry the heritage of - that small place that gave birth among others, to Skalkotas, Lytras and Chalepas: the historical fine arts community of Panormos, in the Greek Cycladic island of Tinos.
